2018 Lifestyle Project - Week 17

We were away this weekend, with others from our church and during some free time I asked my youngest to come out to the gardens to see if there were any flowers worth photographing. Of course, when you see fluffy dandelions there's only one thing to do. Love this rite of passage for all children and happy that I have similar shots over the years at their different ages doing just this.

2018 Lifestyle Project - Week 16

Another week goes by. We were blessed with a mini heatwave, which felt AMAZING!!! Now we are back to dreary cold (sigh). Some things remain the same from week to week, like homework; nobody enjoys it, but it has to get done. Some of our kids (ahem) are more motivated and just get on with it, whilst a certain youngest child (not to give it away) has to be sat down and forced to do it, even though she has the least amount to get through. She's so capable but can be so resistant. Scout sat by for moral support and daddy was on hand in the background reading his book but available at a moment's notice.

2018 Lifestyle Project - Week 15

Although it was back to school for our kids this week, other parts of the country had different timing for their breaks. It meant our friends from London were able to visit us for an overnight at the end of the week, on their way home from a few days away. Amazingly we were able to keep it hidden from the kids and it was a wonderful surprise for them to have friends ring the doorbell on Friday evening and then to find out they were staying for more than just dinner. We had traditional American pancakes for breakfast with maple syrup and whipped cream, I call this 'ten at the table'. It was a Saturday morning, so not the most flattering for most of us, but a fun memory nonetheless.

And there was an early morning, wrapped up in blankets game of Monopoly, which may or may not have been continued from the previous evening. Fun times.

2018 Lifestyle Project - Week 14

It was so lovely to have the two week break from school. We enjoyed some much needed down time, went to a wedding, visited friends in London...and youngest discovered Garage Band. Older brother has been tinkering with it for a while but this was a whole new adventure for our ten year old. She's come up with some cool stuff already and I'm pretty impressed.

Sharing her creativity and getting some pointers...they're pretty cute together.

2018 Lifestyle Project - Week 13

Late posting this week; we were away in London for a good friend's wedding and I was without a laptop and internet access. The beginning of last week it almost was starting to feel like Spring, but it was short lived and then it rained the rest of the week. I'm not sure why nature keeps tormenting us like this when we are so desperate for some nicer weather. Fortunately that one good day we did manage to all get out to a local park and I did have my camera with me. The dog had a good run, the boy rode is bike and the girls enjoyed the playground. Here's to hoping we start to see and feel more of the sun in the days to come.
