No big finale, but it is the last day of May and my macro challenge. We made it! Thanks for following along and cheering me on….without the accountability of posting here it would have been easier to give up on the days I lacked inspiration (and there were certainly a few). It may be a minor accomplishment but I’m glad to have completed the month.

Macro May 2021 - Day 27
At a local park and in the midst of the sea of green this bush stood out; the whole thing was a beautiful burgundy. Different is good!

Macro May 2021 - Day 24
I was driving to get groceries, losing light fast, hoping i’d see something on my way. At the base of a tree along the side of the street was a tree with a bunch of these white flowers at the bottom, I couldn’t even make them out properly until I’d parked and got out…they were my only and last option for the day. Love the beautiful simplicity of the white and green.

Macro May 2021 - Day 22
One of our local parks has a plant box full of various herbs and edible plants for everyone in the community to help themselves to (as in trim what you need, not dig up and take home :P ). This is currently growing, no idea what it is, but thought the buds were quite striking. Let me know if you know what it is.

Macro May 2021 - Day 19
The cutest teeny tiny mushrooms which I would normally have completely missed - but I observe differently when I’m looking to take macro shots.

Macro May - Day 16
Here we have the English Bluebell (Day 9 was the Spanish bluebell) same beautiful colour but very different presence :P Where the Spanish Bluebell stands tall, strong and erect, the English Bluebell is more demure and dainty…of course there are also some hybrids these days but I am no plant expert and those are just the main differences I am aware of. Love them both :)

Macro May 2021 - Day 15
Not quite as sharp as I would like; the breeze just would not let up. Still pretty though and it gives it more of a painterly effect I think.

Macro May 2021 - Day 14
Anyone else taking part in Plantlife’s ‘No Mow May’? They have asked people to put away their mower’s for the month of May to let the flowers bloom in lawns, in the hopes of providing enough nectar for 10 times more bees and other pollinators. Well my hubby jumped at the chance of not mowing the lawn for another month, cough cough, I mean supporting wildlife :P but seriously, we need to be helping out these little creatures who play such a crucial role in our food system - just look at all the pollen this little guy has stored on his legs, amazing!

Macro May 2021 - Day 3
Day 3, windy all morning (biggest macro enemy) rain all afternoon, rain predicted for the rest of the week. Add to that a ‘check engine’ light on the car dashboard which we couldn’t get looked at because it’s a bank holiday so everything is closed and it all feels pretty miserable. Wandered around the house aimlessly trying to find something to photograph but also wanted something a bit prettier so two today. Let’s hope this week somehow improves.

Macro May 2021 - Day 2
Day 2 - The trees around us are gorgeous and full of blossoms, the ground covered with their petal confetti. It’s such a short lived season but I do love it…I have many, many photos of blossom over the years and I’m sure I will never tire of them

Macro May 2021 - Day 1
Well here we are again in May! I was undecided and not very motivated to take part in Macro May this year, really not hugely motivated to do much of anything if truth be told…but if only for that reason, I’m pushing myself. My camera barely comes out of the camera bag these days and we were well into the evening before I even ventured out to see what I could find close by. There wasn’t much; our weather has been so weird, but I found buds and buds are full of potential and hope, something we all need these days. So here we go…day 1 of Macro May 2021. Feel free to join in and post along.
