Macro May 2024 - Day 7

Aquilegia. love the deep dark purple and we have quite a few more this year after the self seeding last year and the seeds i scattered further afield. They may be short-lived but that makes them even more special.

Macro May 2024 - Day 1

Macro May 2024 - Day 1! Last week it looked like we might finally be seeing some sun and igradually increasing temperatures this week, but not surprisingly with the British weather, it was all a lie. We are in for 10 days of rain. It’s not very inspiring, but it was somewhat dry on my lunch break so i ventured out to see what i could find…feeling very rusty, i must admit. Hoping i can keep the momentum for the full month, a day at a time right! Day one is done :)

Macro May 2020 - Day 23

Man, it was windy today. As I've mentioned before, any movement will ruin a macro photo, but we took a walk along the river and as it was kind of wooded, we were somewhat protected. It meant I was back to not much choice or variety of plants though as it was all the usual wildflowers. However, a little patch of blue caught my eye and ended up providing the only real potential for today's photo as the rest were definitely duds.

Macro May 2018 - Day 27

This busy little bee took many attempts to try to capture, you should see all the near misses. Not perfectly happy, but I never claimed to take portraits of bees, so he gets no money back.

Macro May 2018 - Day 12

It's bluebell season here in the UK, it doesn't last long but there's nothing better than the carpet of blue/purple when you find it. I still need to figure out where that is, local to us, but wanted to capture a solo one too. Such beautiful flowers. I'm loving all the purple shades this week.

Macro May 2018 - Day 9

I wasn't sure what this purple flower was so I asked the Insagram world and the consensus seems to be that it is an Allium, more specifically an ornamental allium, which is basically an onion. Learn something new every day!

Macro May 2017 - Day 21

Day 21 - I used to add textures to a lot of my macro photos, but I haven't been with this May project and am loving how they turn out as shot.

I love macro photography. The ability to get extreme close ups and focus on details. When you focus on a close object, the depth of field is much smaller and I love this effect, which further draws your eyes to the subject being focused on. It forces me to look at things in a different way. For the month of May I will be taking at least one macro photo a day, to add to my collection. Some may be more artistic than others, some may be more technical but I hope to push myself, grow and have fun. Feel free to follow along and let me know if you are doing a similar project that I can follow or if you have any ideas for something you'd like me to try to shoot.

Day 14 - Ah lavender, so pretty and smells divine! Also, happy Mother's Day to all the Moms out there :)

February Photo Project - Photo A Day - Day 20

Another day and more flowers. Simple pleasures.

(As in years past, I've decided to do the February photo project and take a photo a day. It never hurts to have a bit of discipline and with all our transitions my creativity has been sorely lacking, so I'm looking forward to jumping back in. No real rules, just our life documented a little. Maybe there'll be captions, maybe not, there could be the occasional phone photo thrown in on busier days and sometimes it may be hard to narrow things down and there could be bonus photos. I'd love for you to follow along, or even join in. Let me know!)
