Jenny and Mark's Sneak Peek

I first met Jenny, when I was a newlywed, over here for a visit to the United States to meet my husband's friends and family. She was this ridiculously cute little girl, who would come running up to me and fling her little arms around my knees, then gaze up at me with her big eyes and cheeky grin. She was always so full of love even back then.

Little did I know that years later I would be living here, that she would babysit for my children and that I would get to take photos on her wedding day! She is one of those people who is truly beautiful, inside and out. She has a love for others and a sincerity and a sweetness that make her an incredibly special person.

It is no surprise that Mark fell in love with her and could wait no longer to be her husband. I wish them all the happiness in the world, a lifetime of joy and love and fun times together. Best friends forever!

Jenny, I am so glad that I got to be a part of your special day, enjoy your sneak peek.

The very impressive first kiss as Mr. and Mrs.

'P' Family Sneak Peak

The 'P' Family contacted me recently to take some family photographs; I hope you enjoy your sneak peak.

The children were all adorable, polite, well-behaved and very co-operative.

'Z' even came prepared with his own poses, it was a riot. He apparently has a friend who does modeling, so I think they had been chatting and helping him to prepare.

He also helped position and direct his brother 'C', who graciously and dutifully obeyed (they just cracked me up, although I made sure to only do it inwardly). You could tell each was used to his role as younger or older brother and in all seriousness they have a very sweet brotherly bond.

Of course, little sister 'L' could not have been cuter. She has the most amazing big brown eyes, which I found completely mesmerizing and completely different to my three little ones with their blue eyes.

Family Shoot Sneak Peak

Last weekend I took some family photos. Here is a little sneak peak.

The Johnsons with their children, it had been a while since their last family photograph.

The whole family, including the childrens' spouses and their children.

We also did some individual shots of the families.

Baby Feet

Babies are so lovely, in all their miniature perfection. Today I had the pleasure of photographing baby 'C' and there is just something about baby feet that always gets me. There are some other cute shots too, but I had to include the feet, they are just so kissable.

And a sneak peak at his adorable face :)

Happy Father's Day

These three little munchkins adore their daddy! He is such a wonderful father, so caring, fun, loving and kind. When he walks in the door at the end of the day, yells of

"DADDY! DADDY!"

erupt as they run to fling arms around his waist, or knees. Asia does a daddy's-home-dance which consists of running round the kitchen in a circle as fast as she can (which is not very fast).

He has so much love to give to those in his life. He wears his heart on his sleeve and we are all better people for being loved by him. I love to see him with his children, he does not hold back any part of himself and showers them with love and affection. There is no fear, they know they are safe and loved and cherished.

Happy Father's Day my love! Thank you for being the best daddy and giving me the amazing gift of these beautiful children.

So precious

Well my friend Melinda, whose maternity shots I did a few weeks back, had her baby a little over a week ago. Ever since, I had been itching to get over there and have my first attempts at newborn photography.

Well it finally happened!

Little 'Miss A' is adorable. I got a little teary-eyed holding her, in all her new tiny perfection, knowing that I would never hold a newborn of my own again (not withstanding a miracle of course). It's such a precious, wonderful stage of life, that is gone in the blink of an eye.

This is exactly why I love photography so much; I live so much in the present that it is hard for me to remember, as I look at my children now, how they were. Photos can take me back there, bring the memories and feelings flooding back in an instant. What a privilege to be able to help preserve that for others too.

Here is a little sneak peek.

Hurray for friends!

I love taking photographs of my kids and creating a visual memory of some of the things that we do together. So often they feel like snapshots, which have a true worth of their own, but I would love to do more with my photography. For now I am reading and practicing and learning as much as I can.

To achieve our dreams, we need to have specific goals and take steps to actually reach them, to not just keep dreaming. Very rarely will things 'just happen' without some work to 'get there'.

A step I need to take is practicing outside of my family, so last week I took my first ever maternity photos. My guinea pig was a good friend of mine. She is tall and beautiful and despite being in the last weeks of her pregnancy, looks amazing and was a true sport. The lighting conditions were not ideal as it was the middle of the day, but her Mom had graciously agreed to watch all four kids (my three and her one) so we could do this and that added to working around nap times...well I'm just grateful to get whatever I can. Hopefully in a couple of weeks there will be a gorgeous little newborn to practice on too.

I am still wading through and editing the results, which has been a lot more time consuming than I had anticipated, but I am learning and enjoying it. If only I had more time. I am about half way through on black and white conversions, before tackling a few to try as color.

Here is just a little sneak peak!

Just a sweet capture of her with her current 'baby' who in
a short while will seem like such a big girl.

Bryttain my beauty

Today was a day to spend some time with my beauty and take some photos.

She jumped at the chance to put on a dress...but it was short lived. It was fun for all of fifteen minutes. Oh well, I'll take what I can get.

Here she is singing and dancing...she really is so much fun and full of life.

Love her to bits!

Shear madness?

A haircut has been long overdue for Arran and with the temperature being up to 90 degrees the last couple of days, it was time to take action. We went out to the front porch, armed with scissors and clippers...and now he has a new do, the shortest he's ever had.

He loves it!

I'm still getting used to it, it is a big change, but he is still as good looking as ever!
