So...the Cannans are on the move again, back to the UK! Daddy has gone ahead of us and we already miss him terribly and I realized that I had never taken this year's Father's Day Photo. Since the kids were really little, the youngest just over a year, I have always taken a photo of them for his card, it's been a fun tradition and I love looking back over previous years' photos. So even though it's not Father's Day, these kids have an amazing Father every day, not just one day of the year and this particular photo tradition will continue.
James Cannan we miss you and love you and can't wait to be reunited, lots of love, your kids and wife (and of course Scout). xxx

Couple's Photoshoot
Having photos taken can be a little awkward, let's be honest. Maybe not if you're a supermodel, used to posing all day long, but for most of us who are just regular people, there's nothing worse than being told by your photographer to 'Just pretend I'm not here!'...um, and then what?
I love to capture genuine interactions and people being themselves, so I help create the moment and provide ideas and suggestions, then let you do your thing and be yourselves. I recently did a little shoot for my lovely sister and her Paul....I can't call him her boyfriend, they've been together for seven years and live together, so he's more than that...but they're not married, so he's not her husband. If there's an appropriate term, someone please let me know :P

They're pretty cute together!
Relationships are worth celebrating and documenting, whether you're newly in love, or an old married couple, or something in between. Don't forget who you are together and all that you have. Life gets busy, but the people we love should always be the priority.

Five Days New
Becoming a parent, especially for the first time, has got to be the hugest life changing event ever. It's wonderful to get married and that changes life, for sure, but it's more about adding a person to your life, as it is. When you have a child your time is no longer your own. Your emotions multiply exponentially. You are responsible for another human being, who is completely helpless and totally relying on you...for everything. It is amazing and overwhelming and wonderful and truly exhausting in those first months, in a way nobody can explain.
Two of my brothers have just started the journey and I could not be more excited to finally have a new niece and nephew and see them becoming fathers, with their beautiful wives. We were just over in England for a, too short, trip and I was able to meet my brand new niece, still at the true newborn stage...in the hospital. She was a perfect little doll, alert and aware and just gorgeous. My time with them was way too short and I have way more cuddles and kisses to give this beauty, but I was grateful for the time we had.
Precious little Thea we love you so much already and can't wait to see the person you will become!

Macro May 2017 - Day 31
Day 31 - and just like that the month is over, one last pretty for you :) thank you for following along!
I love macro photography. The ability to get extreme close ups and focus on details. When you focus on a close object, the depth of field is much smaller and I love this effect, which further draws your eyes to the subject being focused on. It forces me to look at things in a different way. For the month of May I will be taking at least one macro photo a day, to add to my collection. Some may be more artistic than others, some may be more technical but I hope to push myself, grow and have fun. Feel free to follow along and let me know if you are doing a similar project that I can follow or if you have any ideas for something you'd like me to try to shoot.

Photo Project February 2017 - Photo A Day - Day 28
Another day, another birthday. This crazy little girl just turned eleven! She has an enthusiasm and zest for life that is hard to keep up with, at least for me. She is incredibly motivated and loves accomplishing whatever is put before her. She is still all about the extremes and that means wonderful, amazing highs and oh so difficult lows. She is sweet, kind and caring and loves to help others, she's my little right-hand and I know I can count on her. We are the same and yet so different and I love her fiercely, excited and nervous for her to grow up in this sometimes scary world.
Here she was early this morning, very ready to open some presents, classic Bryttain...while we were desperately trying to get up to speed...
She's not very into cakes and once again requested a pavlova for her birthday dessert, fine by me...yum!
And just like that the months is over. Thanks for following along, see you again next year.
*As in years past, I am once again doing a February photo project and will post a photo a day. It may only be one month of the year, but I love to look back on these photos and it never hurts to have a bit of discipline. No real rules, just our life documented a little. Maybe there'll be captions, maybe not, there could be the occasional phone photo thrown in on busier days and sometimes it may be hard to narrow things down and there could be bonus photos.
I'd love for you to follow along, or even join in. Let me know!

The cutest little dog that you ever did see. There's something still so puppy-like about him and he's such a happy chappy.

Photo Project February 2017 - Photo A Day - Day 26
We visited friends today, three sets of them. There were friends who recently bought their long-awaited-for-first-home and we couldn't be happier for them. There were old friends of my husband's and their fun little home zoo (hence the snake photos). Then finally old YWAM friends, one of whom is now particularly old and was having a 40th birthday party.
I kind of wish I'd taken photos at all three places, but I hate to intrude. My family knows to expect it, but I'm never quite sure how others will feel or respond...that's one of the good things about this project, it forces me to be more active and intentional again with my camera.
